Our story
From the volcanic summits of central Mexico to the remote canyons of the north and ancient trails of Oaxaca, we believe the best way to discover Mexico is one step at a time.
Backpacking Mexico is the specialist hiking brand of Bamba Experience Group, founded in 2005 by Paul Sarfati. The Bamba Travel group story is rooted in travel entrepreneurship and connecting travelers with places beyond ordinary tourism. That heritage supports journeys around Mexico’s mountains, landscapes and communities.

Mexico’s trails connect more than viewpoints. They pass through community forests, village pathways and landscapes with their own histories. Our approach is to plan with local providers, respect community access and make room for the people who know these places. Ask before photographing people, follow local guidance and leave the trail as you found it.
