Overview
Paricutín began erupting in a cornfield in 1943 and reshaped the surrounding Purépecha landscape. Black lava, loose volcanic rock and the surviving church ruins of San Juan Parangaricutiro bring the history into focus on foot.
A crater-focused outing and a journey toward the buried church are different route choices. Discuss your priorities before selecting a trail; vehicle or horseback arrangements, local guiding, walking effort and permitted access are specified in your proposal.
