If someone becomes ill or injured
- Alert the guide immediately; stop and avoid creating further exposure. Follow instructions and do not split the group without an agreed plan.
- For severe or worsening altitude symptoms, stop ascent, descend and seek urgent medical attention. Arrange assistance rather than forcing an unsafe walk.
- When safe, communicate location, the nature of the problem and the assistance needed to the available emergency service. Do not rely on this website or an inquiry form for emergency help.
What to discuss before departure
Ask about communication coverage and backups, route-specific rescue coordination, evacuation options, nearest appropriate medical access and who coordinates outside assistance. A phone signal, radio, satellite device, helicopter or rescue service must not be assumed to be available. Response time and a particular evacuation method cannot be guaranteed.
Check your policy’s activity and altitude limits, rescue and medical evacuation provisions, exclusions and payment arrangements. Insurance does not guarantee assistance; this page does not promise included rescue or insurance coverage.
